At the start of May I received my audio master files for both The Secret Club and The Secret Job which I promptly uploaded onto voices.inaudio. Dissappointedly, Audible have taken the whole month to review them which meant that the Hambright Campaign I paid for to advertise the audio has been a waste because even when the influencers post about the audio, no one can buy it. Whilst I was hoping for a bigger uptake of ARC and ALC readers/listeners, I received 192. Luckily, most do seem to like the book & Audio and the read through has been promising to book 2 & 3. It’s just not all worked out as I had hoped. It’s certainly been a learning curve.
I am waiting for the last files for Book 3 to come through to beta listen to. It’s a little behind the first two because I didn’t know if I’d get it made. By the end of June I’ll have 4 audio books out… crazy!
I got the secret project done in May. River was an absolute blessing. He did everything I asked of him and more. From the videos to the social content to the photography. I spent nearly all of April worrying I wouldn’t find the right person and my dream of having this interactive experience for Sophie’s story slip away. Then I found my Mack, then I worried he might bail or get run over. GAHH so much anxiety. But he did it all, when he said he would. And everything he did was perfect. I am a lucky duck and I hope with every fibre of my body that you all love him and what he has helped me to create.
My body reminded me this month that I hadn’t been sleeping and in it’s place I have been stressing like a mofo for reasons above. So I had to give in and take a break. I did life things, watched tv and behaved like a normal person without deadlines or words to write. It was lovely. And it has given me the bandwidth to breath and feel ready to dive back into Sandys story.
I should mention I have been trying my hand at reels and trial reels but in all honesty, I suck. I only have the brain capacity to work on one thing at a time so I tried the reels, but I don’t think it’s worth it for me. I know it’s consistancy that wins, but I don’t think I’ve got much more in me to continue…..

May Lesson: No matter how well you plan these things (audio books launching at the same time as arcs going out) the world can have other plans. Also, making Reels don’t make me happy - infact they make me the opposite. Therefore, that is not the marketing channel I will be basing my efforts in. I’d prefer to spend the time writing and hoping I find readers with my new books.
