May Update

I have found two author friends via Instagram / TikTok. I’m not sure how it happened, I must have commented on their posts and they commented on mine I think? Regardless, it has made the world of difference. To ask other authors, one a newbie like me, another who has been self published for a year with two books what they have done / are doing to get to where they are is so interesting to me. Real experience and support. To share what I have done so far and what I plan to do and hear their journeys has been really inspiring to me, but ultimately to just talk BOOK with another human has been incredible. One of my new author friends purchased my book and shared it on their socials, just straight up out the blue there I see my book on TikTok. The other, she included me in her newsletter. How kind is that? And someone read my book from it and left me a review!

One thing I did pick up on in our conversations is that I really should have done the whole ARC mailout when launching The Secret Club. I felt so knew and unsure, I didn’t have the courage to do it. However, now I’m two months in and have some very lovely reviews, that has given me the courage to reach out to some book PR companies, one in the UK and the other in US. They’re both quite different but will hopefully work out well. They’ve both taken me on as a backlist meaning that their followers and newsletter sign ups can sign up to read my book The Secret Club for free and in return (hopefully if they like it) leave a review. I believe that is how it works.

I have also applied for the BoobBub new release mailout. I was on the fence, but figured if it went to people interested in Erotica, maybe I’d score some readers. I don’t know, worth a try. I might not even get into it, it’s not as if I’m a well known author or anything.
